Swamp
The Swamp Series is a visual exploration of the human body’s relationship to its natural surroundings.
The body decays and grows in tandem with the swamp, an ecosystem on the precipice.
She floats atop the water. Life blooms on a muted day. They say she painted her nails before she left for the evening.
Moss hangs like hair around her wading form. Swamp rose and the pitcher plants grow. She belongs to the swamp and the swamp belongs to her.
She reclines and hums to the sound of hornets nests, splitting cells and exhaling leaves.
The swamp body bends like a statue, overtaken. Organic matter billows from within.
If I could take all of you, I would. Until there is nothing left but a memory of what you once were.
